2016 LAUNCH WORKSHOP
In October 2016 the YPT launched with a symphonic workshop. Under the direction of YPT's music director Justus Rozemond, assisted by other tutors from the region, a 50+ strong orchestra rehearsed and performed challenging music from Brahms and Mahler and works from the Hobbit movies.
2018 YOUNG @ HEART CONCERT
In 2018 the YPT performed a concert jointly with the Bay of Plenty Symphonia. Apart from YPT-only and BoPS-only programmes, three pieces were performed jointly, as one enlarged orchestra: some Mahler, some Berlioz and Pirates of the Carribean. A similar concert was planned for June 2020, but was cancelled due to the Covid-19 crisis.
2019 YOUTH ORCHESTRA CAMP
In April 2019 YPT joined 3 other youth orchestras from central North-Island during a weekend camp. The rehearsal weekend was closed off with a joint concert at the Avantidrome in Cambridge.
2019 WORKSHOP
In December 2019 YPT organsed a workshop, open to a wider player-pool, at the Waikato University compound in Tauranga. The workshop was closed off with an informal concert.
2020 NZSO COACHING
In March 2020 players from the NZSO provided orchestral coaching at a YPT rehearsal.
2024 Bayfair Concert
In April 2024 YPT descended upon Bayfair to share their awesome classical music - their first concert under William McElwee
2024 Young@heart 2: Renewal
In June YPT once again combined with Bay of Plenty Symphonia to present an epic concert!
